As our District is so diverse in needs we have sought to insure that all regions benefit from our program.

Interpretive Trails

The Board of KCD feels that interpretive trails benefit our communities in a number of ways. They add to the economic viability of a community and at the same time provide a healthy form of recreation to the visitors/members of these communities. Once these trails are developed it’s KCD’s hope that these trails will be used as tools for Public Education about our watershed as well as offering youth education tours to the schools of Frontier and Kelsey School Divisions. Two trails are under development at this time, one in Cranberry Portage and one on Ralls Island.

Docks

Boat docks are important to the economic development of lakes within the region. At times these structures can be enormously expensive for a community to engage in their construction. KCD will help communities and regions of the RM of Kelsey complete these projects under the following conditions;

• The funding for the docks is at least 90% in place from community private donors.

• All environmental and fisheries licensing has been completed and approved.

• The amount requested from Kelsey Conservation District is less than $5000 in total monies including manager/staff time and expenses.

To this date two of these projects have been completed, one in Wanless on Rocky Lake and the other in Cranberry Portage on Athapapuskow Lake.
